Embody Your Essence this Scorpio Season, New Moon 9° Scorpio 35" 1st November 2024, at 12.47 UK, 8.47 am NY

Scorpio season (October 23-November 21) and the New Moon cycle are a special time for introspection and transformation. This lunar phase encourages us to connect deeply with our inner selves. Scorpio is all about change, emotional depth, personal growth and desire. We can tap into this powerful energy for self-discovery and renewal.

Scorpio's themes of life, death, re-birth, alchemy, power, intimacy, psychology and emotional growth all support and highlight this new moon.

Scorpio, ruled by Pluto, invites us to explore the power and intensity of renewal. This time of year encourages us to engage with our inner world, shed what no longer serves us, and awaken to our true essence. Integrating yoga into this powerful period can help us harness transformative energy, enriching our spiritual journey.

Practising yoga can do more than enhance physical strength; it encourages mental clarity and emotional healing. Let’s explore how to align your yoga practice with the powerful waves of Scorpio.

Scorpio is a fixed water sign that embodies emotional depth and complexity. This season prompts us to confront our innermost thoughts, emotions, and desires. You might feel an urge to face parts of yourself you often ignore.

This inner exploration can occur in yoga through physical asanas (postures), mindfulness practices, Pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation. By tuning into Scorpio and Plutonic energy, we can better connect with our authentic selves, releasing emotional blocks and reclaiming our power.

Understanding the New Moon in Scorpio

The New Moon marks a fresh start, offering a chance to set intentions and reflect on what truly matters. Scorpio, influenced by Pluto, prompts us to look closely at our hidden fears and desires. This influence is significant. Remember to honour your intuition and feelings—you don't have to act on them, but you can acknowledge them.

As you explore this lunar cycle, inquire about what you deeply desire. Use this time to face your fears about change, look into the shadows to see what negative patterns no longer serve you - acknowledge if there are any obsessive, jealous or controlling tendencies and embrace new positive paths in your growth journey.

Setting Your Intentions

Before beginning your yoga practice, take a moment to set clear intentions for this New Moon. Find a peaceful space, consider the Scorpio themes and ask yourself:

  • What positive traits do I want to strengthen during this lunar cycle?

  • What emotional burdens am I ready to release?

  • How can I express my authentic Self more fully?

Once you have clarity, write down your intentions. Having them on paper makes them more tangible and serves as a guide throughout this cycle.

Asanas to Connect with Your Power and harness the Scorpio energy:

Scorpio rules the organs of elimination, including the skin, so bring more intensity and longer holds in standing poses to embody strength, fire up your solar plexus, and help the body detox. Release further through more churning and undulations of hips and the spine through creative yoga flow sequences to move the still and stagnant waters of your potential.

Here are some more traditional yoga postures (asanas) to weave in, which can significantly enhance your Scorpionic journey and transformative season:

Eagle Pose (Garudasana): This pose promotes balance and internal focus. As you wrap your limbs, imagine unearthing hidden emotions and embracing your unique strengths, both central themes during the New Moon.

Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana): This posture opens the heart to vulnerability and releases stagnant energy. As you lift your chest, envision allowing burdens to lift from your spirit.

Pigeon Pose (Kapotasana): This is excellent for releasing pent-up emotional energy that can get stuck in the hips. Sink into the pose, embracing the release of surrendering to the stretch.

Child’s Pose (Balasana): This restorative posture encourages introspection, provides comfort, and offers time to reflect on one's emotional landscape during this season of transformation.

Savasana (Corpse Pose) is the final resting pose in yoga. After your practice, surrender your physical body to the Earth and become one with it as you absorb the benefits of your practice.

For me, it is the ultimate pose of transformation: to wake up renewed, centred, and ready to be more present each day.

Embracing Meditation (Dhyana)

Find a comfortable seated position, soften your gaze or close your eyes. Mindfully breathe while visualising/imagining your intentions coming alive. Let go of outside distractions and immerse yourself in the New Moon’s energy.

Meditation and Savasana have the potential to build awareness and strengthen our bond with our higher Self, amplifying our transformation during this cycle.

These asanas facilitate a deeper connection with our core self, allowing for the intense emotional work that Scorpio season invites.

Cultivating a sense of Presence through Pranayama.

The choice of breathing techniques (Pranayama) during practice can shape our emotional experience. To embody your essence, consider integrating:

Ujjayi Breath: This “victorious breath” fills your body with energy, enhancing focus. Picture this energy empowering your true essence.

Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing): This technique balances the mind and helps clear emotional blockages. Visualise uniting all aspects of yourself into a harmonious whole.

Incorporating these breathing practices can help regulate emotions and provide clarity as we navigate the depths of our psyche.

Introspection and Journaling

There is some beautiful cosmic energy to support journaling or quiet contemplation to learn from our lessons and discern what we need.

While yoga asanas physically connect us to our body, journaling can stimulate further insights into our emotional state.

Prepare a Sacred Space

Creating a comfortable environment is essential for focused reflection. Light candles, use soothing essential oils and play calming music to foster a serene atmosphere.

Reflect on Scorpio Themes

Make journaling a part of your post-yoga reflections. Write down your thoughts, feelings, and any insights that emerge. This practice encourages deeper introspection and helps track your growth as the New Moon energy unfolds.

Use prompts to explore intense Scorpio themes. Reflect on questions like:

  • What emotions have I been avoiding?

  • Where in my life do I feel powerless?

  • How can I feel more empowered?

  • What hidden desires am I ready to acknowledge?

Journaling these thoughts after practice can deepen your revelations and illuminate your inner landscape.
