ABOUT REIKI

The Japanese word Reiki translates as  ‘Universal Life Energy’ or 'Divinely Guided Energy'. Eastern medicine has always recognised, and worked with this energy; it flows through all living things and is essential to wellbeing. Known as ‘ki’ in Japan, ‘chi’ in China and ‘prana’ in India, this vital energy can be activated for the purpose of healing and bringing balance and harmony to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of us.​

 

The practitioner acts as a channel for the Reiki which the recipient automatically draws to where it is needed, activating the body’s natural ability to heal itself and restore homeostasis.  Thousands of research papers have now been published about the efficacy of Reiki which is now used within the NHS. Reiki is both a complementary and an alternative therapy - a gentle, non-invasive treatment that may be used safely alongside both holistic and allopathic healthcare expanding treatment options.

OUR TEACHER

Leo Maria Holmes

Leo Maria is a UKRF recognised Reiki teacher.  She has over 20 years experience as a Reiki Practitioner and has been teaching Reiki for six years. She is an Usui Reiki Master Practitioner/Teacher, and holds Holy Fire Reiki 1 and 2 as well as Intuitive Reiki, Professional Reiki Development and Reiki Science certificates from the Reiki Science Academy where she has attuned the Level 1 students.  She has also studied advanced healing techniques with Lars Muhl and is London’s premier Zephorium Reiki practitioner. Professional bodies include: CNHC, UK Reiki Federation and Federación Española de Reiki.

Ema Borges​

Reiki found Ema back when she was experiencing difficult times and was given very clear signs that it would be a part of her path, by showing up everywhere she went, in conversations and books. She trained in Usui reiki to level 2 in 2010 with the London School of Reiki and began to use it on herself and clients in her freelance work.

After a long pause she later refreshed her training with Leo, of Nutrition and Light in 2023 and has been back in professional practice since, also incorporating reiki and massage together in a personalised treatment to offer a deeply restful and healing experience. Ema works to combine mind, body and soul and supports her clients back to wholeness and feeling at home in themselves.

OUR COURSES

REIKI LEVEL 1 

A two day course teaching the core curriculum including National Occupational Standards.  This lays the foundation of the hands on healing method of Reiki.  Students will feel the flow of Reiki and be able to give treatments to family, friends, pets and themselves for healing and personal development.  It is taught in a relaxed atmosphere in small groups of no more than eight students.

 

Course includes:

  • 4 attunements to start the flow of Reiki energy

  • Introduction to energy theory and how to ‘tune-in’ to Reiki

  • History, philosophy and origins of Reiki

  • What is healing and what is energy?

  • The Chakra system

  • Energy cleansing techniques

  • The 21-day clearing process and the 12 hand positions

  • Practical exercises (including working in pairs) - 

  • boosting students’ confidence to use Reiki

  • Conducting a Reiki self treatment & giving Reiki to others

  • Treating pets, plants, inanimate objects & giving Reiki

  • to situations

  • Introduction to meditation

REIKI LEVEL 2​

This course will take your healing to the next level.  Known as Okuden in Japanese, meaning the inner or deeper teachings, it will greatly increase your ability to use Reiki. It introduces the famous Reiki symbols, exploring the many ways of using them, their practical use in daily life and the deeper meaning behind them.  For instance, the incredible Connection Symbol will allow students to send distant treatments.

 

Reiki 2 is known as the Practitioner Level as it enables students to give professional treatments with confidence. This level is also for self development, healing and spiritual growth which is the main original focus of the symbols.  The course is taught in a relaxed atmosphere in small groups.  

 

Course includes:

  • Revision of Level 1 hand positions

  • Three Level 2 attunements

  • Learn & practice the Power, Harmony & Connection Symbols

  • Learn the symbols’ kotodamas

  • Using the symbols in self treatment & when treating others

  • Intuitive Reiki and body scanning

  • The Tanden points - the ‘Japanese Chakra system’

  • Using Reiki for personal growth

  • Advanced meditation practices

REIKI SHARE

Attending a Reiki Share is a wonderful way of meeting other students and practitioners of all levels.  It is an opportunity for everyone attending to both give and receive Reiki healing in a supportive environment.  Depending on numbers, there will be 3 or 4 people to each treatment couch and whilst one person is laying on the couch, the others give them Reiki.  When that session has finished, someone else will then be treated.  This rotation continues until everyone has received a treatment. 

 

We begin with refreshments and a chance to catch up with fellow practitioners. This is followed by a meditation, a short talk on an aspect of Reiki, a Reiju from a Reiki Master then the Reiki sharing.

 

WHAT IS A REIJU BLESSING?

In traditional circles in Japan Reiju is generally given whenever a student and teacher meet; it is considered a mini attunement and an energetic clearing.  The more Reiju a student receives, the better.  Reiju is a blessing or offering that is seen as support for the student’s journey and which the teacher uses in order to communicate with students on an energetic level. 

 

WHO CAN COME?

Anyone who has taken Reiki Level 1, Level 2 or Reiki Master (even if they haven’t trained with Leo Maria).
